For those
who have never tried ice climbing or who simply wish to improve their techniques,
Festiglace du Québec
The North Face is the place to take acourse. Full-day courses are
available Saturday and Sunday.
Beginner I
For
first-time climber
Saturday or Sunday (9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Using technical equipment
- Tying-in, belaying, climbing vocabulary
- Climbing techniques and hand gestures
Ratio: 6 students for 1 guide
Cost: $ 79/per student (taxes included)
The price includes coaching, and the equipment. However, you must bring your own boots
(downhill ski boots or ice climbing boots). Ice climbing boots
can usually be rented at sports equipment stores.
Beginner II
Who
have never ice climbed, but who have basic indoor or outdoor
rock climbing skills.
Saturday or Sunday(9 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
-Using technical equipment
-Climbing techniques and hand gestures
Ratio: 6 students for 1 guide
Cost: $ 79/per student (taxes included)
The price includes coaching, and the equipment. However, you must bring your own boots
(downhill ski boots or ice climbing boots), harness and belay
device . Ice climbing boots
can usually be rented at sports equipment stores.
Intermediate-Mix or Ice
Saturday (ice) or Sunday
(mix) FULL
(9 a.m to 4 p.m.)
- Coaching, vertical biomechanics
- Modern techniques
- Placing ice screws, anchors...
Ratio: 4 students for 1 guide
Cost: $
79/per student (taxes included)
You must bring your own equipment.
Note:
there will be a two-hour lunch break to give you time to check
out the other activities.
